Sounds like the start of a bad rumor to me. The last time he made an appearance at GHR he took home a little bit of the purse and gave the fans a big surprise. Only cost 12 bucks to see the Kasey and Tony show and that was without a bunch of NASCAR fanatics crowding the stands. Last edited on Thursday Aug 28th, 2008 02:06 AM by

it's nice to have the chance now and then to see the hometowners that have gone on to race elsewhere run now and then, but at the same time it will be nice that the show is about the WoO instead.
i'm a nascar fan as well as a sprint car fan and find nothing wrong with what 'double nickels' posted. as i said, the WoO can stand on their own and don't need kasey running the event. if the only reason someone comes to watch a race is because of one driver, i'm not sure what kind of racing fan they are. sure to tick off a few people with that comment, but it's true.
kasey will be at the track. if you want to see him so bad, come on out, maybe get an aoutograph from him, but at the same time take in what the day is really about.....some awesome sprint car racing!!!

Please! No kids screaming Kasey Kahne at the top of their lungs for hours in the pits.
Last time he was here that went on till I think he was sick of it.

SO, the parade is Friday? Wish it could have been Monday! How is the Grand Marshall going to get from Elma's parade in time to race at Skagit? Hmmm, I guess 3 hours will be good. (unless he's got a plane!) Busy, busy!

I was thinking the same thing. I spent two hours on I 405 just last week! Better have a helicopter or a plane! I`m not ever gonna complain about the traffic in Portland anymore! I don`t know how you folks deal with that!

| Everytime I go thru Portland I say the samething about Portlands traffic, how I think it sucks and is worse than seattle, like when you get across the I-5 bridge and you have to funnel down to 2 lanes for about 2 blocks and then it goes back to 3 lanes, thats some great road engineering. I see now that there going to fix that problem, Portland has to many frickin bridges.

Can't speak for Kahne or anyone else, but many of the "big time" drivers this day & age have ammendments in their contracts with their primary employer to limit how many non-series races they're allowed to enter.
Some drivers (Ken Schrader) will forgo opportunities with the better organizations for the freedom to race as they please, while others will sign their driving souls away.
These guys are racers at heart, every one of them....but why whould they risk a multi-million dollar payday for a 25 minute race at home? Just imagine if he defied contractual obligations to run at Elma and got injured? God forbid it happen but yikes....flush your career for a few laps to please us? I don't blame him a bit for not running if that's the case.

| just no reason to come on here bashing kasey for not running because he wasn't getting paid big bucks to race. so many other reasons could be the case. unless you know for sure, let it be. enjoy the fact that he is making an appearance and bring on the show!!!

so what we have here is the 64 thousand dollar question? Sound familiar to anyone? Come on guys, who ever started this rumor could have come up with a better number. The fact that it is 64k gives it away as a hoax. Nice try! LMAO jmo....
It really does not matter. Be thankful that he WILL be there and mingling with the fans. Who cares if he races. The fact that he is here supporting N/W racing is good enough for me! Thankyou Kasey.

greg's support at portland speedway wouldn't had made a difference as to whether it closed or not. closed because of a mentally challenged family that owns the property. greg running a race or two there wouldn't have helped the situation at all. he did come to the speedway once or twice and did autograph sessions. better than nothing.
by the way, he has ran at banks raceway the last couple of years. hasn't totally forgot where he is from!
