Don't look now, but the weather forecast for next weekend isn't so good...can anyone tell me if an NST Memorial Day weekend has ever been totally wiped out by the R word? I know we lost Medford last year, but have we ever lost 2 or more?

Just to clue you in from a professional standpoint, don't start worrying a week in advance. Long term forecasts (5-10 days) are still driven more by climo statistics.
If you look at the forecast, say next Wednesday, and it says rain for the weekend, start to be a bit concerned.  If it still says rain on Thursday, start to worry.  If it says rain on Friday, you can start to cry...but when you get to the track on Friday and it is sunny, be sure to curse Accuweather for the bunch of putzes they really are!

I wasn't "worrying" about the weather-I was wondering if we have ever lost 2 or more days to weather on Memorial Weekend! I'm old, ya know!

Well I`m beginning to worry about the weather.  We are getting hammered this morning in Pdx.  The forcast doesn`t look good for the weekend either.  I hope you fare better down south.  Hope the forcast is wrong!!!!

We're still going to Lebonon, rain or shine! The weather has been too random to rule anything out. I think we will skip Medford though, because last year we didn't know the race was cancelled until we saw the haulers coming back at Grant's pass! It rained most of the morning on Sunday at Cottage Grove and they still ended up racing. We can only hope for some sun!

Now I'm starting to worry! Raining like hell right now, and I'm just a couple of miles away from the track, and its been raining pretty steady since Sunday night with a few breaks. Weekend forecast is not good-start raining Fri night through Monday-figures!!!

C'mon, Rick or someone-have we ever lost a whole memorial weekend?

I don't think that there has ever been a 3 day rain out. Where is Fred Rahmer when you need him?:D

Fred Rahmer still racing in PA :D

I don't think we have ever lost a complete weekend.  Seems like we get  rain one night and 80 degrees and sunny the next.  Don't ever remember losing more than one race in a weekend.

Well having just looked at a various weather sites, I'm GUESSING:

Lebanon - I'd say about a 10% chance of racing (and that's being optimistic).

Medford - I'd say 50/50 chance of racing assuming the pit area isn't a total swap.

Cottage Grove - I'd say 60-70% chance of racing (but that's looking at forecasts 4 days out).  Same issue with the pits here.  I know it has been raining hard in Eugene since Sunday afternoon.  Well it did stop for a couple of hours yesterday.  ;)

Those are not very good odds. I'm not really sure about spending the tow money to camp out in a muddy field.  On the other hand, I don't want to waste a vacation day and a three day weekend sitting at home! If all else fails, maybe we can get a good party going on Friday night. That at least would make the trip worth it! I'm sure it is a much harder choice for the race teams.

Where is Fred Rannard when you need him for NST triva!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!

I just looked at the Weather Channel forecast for Lebanon (zip 97355) and the forecast is 100% chance of rain-thunderstorms no less!

Saturday @Medford 50% chance of rain, plus it has been pretty rainy all week and cooler than normal.

30% chance of rain on Sunday, but Fri & Sat are RAIN EVENTS!

Phooey!

Yea,  weather does not look good.  Best chance is for CG on sunday.  It could be like the NST race last year when the track was very rough.  T. Ruitz ran away with it.  I think Billy was 2nd, only car on the same lap!  There sure was a lotta torn up cars that night!  Hope for the best!:?

I think you are right Mark. Sunday at CG looks to be our best shot for racing. If we get rained out at Sunset I am going to CG on Sunday. Hope to see you there!!!

I am thinking about DC myself. I do not think I can afford it, but if we keep getting rained out it may happen.

As for the yard. I got to cut it too often.

Does anyone have an idea of how many teams will try to race at Cottage Grove on Sunday? That's looking like the only hope for the weekend. :( I guess we will probably just make a day trip instead of a full race weekend and even that seems to be up in the air.
