ALTHOUGH FRED BROWNFIELD RACED UNDER THE NUMBERS #32 (INLAWS RACING) AND NUMBER #66 (KUEHN RACING), IT IS THE YELLOW NUMBER #92 THAT IS REMEMBERED MOST BY RACE FANS.  HOW DID THAT NUMBER COME ABOUT?  WHEN MY DAD WORKED FOR H&D GLASS IN EVERETT IN THE EARLY 70'S, THE COMPANY ALSO OWNED THE GAS STATION IN FRONT OF THAT BUSINESS.  A MECHANIC NAMED MICK CRAFT (I WORKED WITH HIS WIFE AT SAFEWAY FOR MANY YEARS) THOUGHT HE WOULD TAKE A CRACK AT DIRT TRACK RACING AT SKY VALLEY SPEEDWAY.  WELL IT MAY HAVE SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA, BUT ONCE HE GOT INTO THE CAR HE WAS SCARED TO DEATH!!  HE DECIDED TO PUT THE OLIVE GREEN #92 MODIFIED UP FOR SALE AND THE REST IS HISTORY!!-KELLY NICHOLAS

please do post a few.   Having been on the West coast for not even 2 years yet, I really dont know all that much about his driving days.

The funny thing is the first time he called me I was still living in NJ.   My daughter answered the phone and she  said theres some guy named Fred on the phone looking for me.

Im thinking to myself  "who the $%#is Fred?"

Believe it or not. I had to Google his name to get some background info before I moved!! Forgive my ignorance,  we didnt get much NW racing news Back East!

Met Fred & Deb the same night after I got out here.  Liked them both right away

Now you got me goin'.   A funny Fred story for ya....2005 Mod Nats @ Elma.  It started raining right after the pit meeting one of those  nights.  Fred is standing around with a few officials.  Bobby V was there. Tammy too.  We're standing there in the pits getting soaked.  Freds obviously gonna lose his shirt that night.  But all he says is something like "this is cool it gives us a chance just to hang out and talk for a while."

Someone there starts wondering aloud  if/when its gonna stop raining.  Fred rubs the bare spot on the top of his head and says "no problem Ive got my rain detector right here."  Of course he was the shortest one in the circle so I say " yeah but you're always the last one to know when it stops"

Bobby V is laughing so hard,  hes about ready to pee his pants. Says something like "Whooaa the new guy is ripping on Fred!"

Fred just gave me this mock-pained look thats just wordlessly says "not you too"

Laughing while Im typing.  Hope you liked it too
