1996 was the year for the "Gamfield" chassis.  The guys took an old Gambler chassis that Fred had and modified it from a four bar car to a coil over to run the asphalt with NSRA.  Very inovative asphalt car built by a bunch of guys that had been running dirt for so many years.

This car ran in Monroe at the beginning of the season, Tri Cities and ended up in 55 gallon barrels after hitting the wall at Portland.  Primary sponsor was Martin Manufacturing from Adrian, OR (Fred's cousin George Martin)

I think we all got raises when Fred couldn't remember what was what :D

All I will say is ouch. Knew at the time it was a nasty one, and that Fred ended up w/ a concussion. Was more worried about the car, from the story I heard, while still at the hospital.
