Good Lord........ I finally got it done. :? Had some issues converting video files so I could use 'em in my editing program. Unfortunately.... when when I converted these beautiful hi-def video files from WestCoastDirtRacing.com... I lost some of the quality. And then I uploaded my video to YouTube and lost even more quality. Oh well... it's still kinda fun to watch. West Coast Dirt Racing will be hosting the "better than YouTube" version eventually.

The "music video" part is my favorite part. You gotta watch Jayme Barne's now infamous pass where he splits some lapped cars to take the lead from Tyler Walker. Awesome. And don't fret... the "interview" section is less than a minute......... :P

Thanks guys!!!! Hopefully I'll get a chance to do a World of Outlaws in the Northwest (Skagit and Elma) video and a Fred Brownfield Memorial video also this year.... :)

Oh yeah...... I forgot to mention it in the first post......

If your computer can handle it... definitely click on the "watch in high quality" link. It's located in YouTube... under the video... right below where it says "Views:"

And if I can figure out how to get it to Starla... a better copy will also be on WestCoastDirtRacing.com. Just wish I could have found a way to keep that hi-def quality Starla filmed in. The video converter I used had some problems figuring out how to "convert" all the dust particles... :? Maybe if I used REAL video editing software instead of this free crap.... I'd have much better results.... Baby steps I suppose.... baby steps... :)

And no..... Barnes didn't have an in-car camera on. I think DeWitt, Lemley and Martinez did. The in-car footage in my video was from Josh Edson. Thanks Josh...

Yeah,,, Let me just tell ya... We offered to put it in barnes car... they turned us down.  What a huge bummer... as that hair raising split between the cars would have been HUGE.... killer footage...

I am working on turning all of my videos over to flash.. so slower computers can watch everything as well as the faster machines.

We have a TON of footage from the Dirt-cup weekend... in cars were on alot of people and those will be easier to get up keep an eye on the page "SPRINT CARS"

and its a page link at the top left side labeled

VIDEO, INCAR, WILD-PIX and MORE

that is where all the videos will show up.

See ya there... Starla - WestCoastDirtRacing.com

Thanks Alaskan,

Sometimes people don't realize how much work goes into pics or videos, they just keep asking when/where can we see them !

As a photographer I look to those posting Vids as a way of seeing what I missed at the track, Patience is a Hard thing to deal with.

Each & everyone one of us have different styles, methods, ways of doing things.

Personally I Wish To Thank those who do ANY vids/pics. :D

Frizzy - by far, the absolute best conversion for web delivery is going from a avi file to the mpeg4 - divx format. Sadly, divx remains the most widely used video conversion for video buffs, and the most widely not used format for the average inter-net user.

Basically, someone has to "know" the quality of a divx file, understands the quality, and is more than willing to "download" the file for playback on their computer.

Windows media does great at its standard 320 X 240 30 fps conversion. But I have fits getting anything above the 320 X 240 frame size to not create strobing.

Next up is the universal flash, which beats the holy hay out of windows media, while doing a very good job at larger frame sizes past the 320 X 240.

I myself, will by next season going to the flash format.

Microsoft has come out with SilverLight, a very serious contender in the quality arena of delivering inter-net video, however, in typical microsoft hostage holding, you have to use hosting services that have the streaming codex on their streaming servers - meaning, you pay a whole lot of money for what you can do for free or very small costs for divx and flash.

You tube and google video have the saddest compression of them all. These two are basically going to totally destroy the quality of any video you post, and you can't do much more than clips of ten minutes max.

I have to transition from microsoft applications to flash applications before I will be able to deliver higher quality video at larger frame sizes above 320 X 240. I am soon to start my education in doing flash based web sites and hope to roll flash sites out for the 09 season.

If you want to see just how good a flash site can be - how inter-active a flash site can be - none better than Danica's site - http://www.danicapatrick.com  sets the mark.

Also, check out fearnet.com which is a comcast flash site that also sets a very high mark for delivery of web video.

So, don't be discouraged when you see all your excellent effort go to pieces when using you tube.

Actually...... for probably 80% of the population..... YouTube quality is plenty good....... as long as you view it in the "watch in high quality" mode. I agree... "Watch in standard mode" sucks major a$$ on YouTube . And the 10 minute maximum (video length) is totally fine for my music video purposes. I swear I'm ADHD!!!! Show me all the best parts in less than ten minutes.... 'cause my attention span isn't going to last very long staring at my computer watching a race I can't fully enjoy unless I'm there.... :P

The problems I had with my video happened in the crappy (but free) editing software..... long before posting to YouTube....

Thanks for the tips though... :)

Copies of the video for the public??? Umm..... never thought that far ahead..... I would only be able to give them away for free since I have "unauthorized" music in it.... so.... I guess that means it would cost me a bunch of money to distribute them.... which would only mean........ I suck *** as a business person.... :P

Good gawd............. can someone please stand up and offer to take care of the business side of my creativity!!!!!!!! :P

Hi Jason,

Sorry I just now noticed your question. I use Adobe Pro for my editing. I will soon have Adobe's Flash encoder, comes with their Flash software. So I edit in avi file, than take the edited avi file and will use the flash encoder to encode into the flash format. Not sure I know of an actual flash editing program itself.

Frizzy - I have a friend that can do royalty free music. Also you can "nose" around the net and find royalty free music loops. I have recently been able to find several very nice compositions that are royalty free.

The business aspect is most likely going to become having a pay-to-view, or subscription site where race fans will pay to subscribe for watching the web casts. Part of my next web-site "learning" curve is to get to this point. A collaboration of us folks that are doing this for free might have possibilities for developing a "racing inter-net channel", subscriber fee based. Something for you and friends to ponder.

Why should she be discouraged even if it was posted on Youtube or not? I don't see nothing wrong with her video, everything looks good, and was done extremely well.

That video was done extremely well, everything went together, and I like how she got audio clips of interviews, and videos. That was cool

Keep up the good work!

LOL.... ok.... y'all requesting copies...... you know I was kidding about distributing 'em for free right......

Yeah... gotta figure out the music thing for next time. Unfortunately... I'm usually not crazy about the license free stuff. Maybe I can just write Saliva or Disturbed or one of those guys and ask 'em to just make me a special song for my video.... for free of course.... I'll just smile at 'em real pretty....  :P

Although.... I think better editing software needs to come first before I work on my pretty smile.... :D

Yeah... gotta figure out the music thing for next time.

I still have 4 licenses for Final Cut Pro left from a competition i won in High School, id be willing to part with one. And also, in the past ive had really good luck with hitting up myspace, looking for the really small bands, the unkowns, they have alot of good work and they are cheap...most are willing to let ya use there songs with just the promise of crediting them.
