For those of you that haven't heard Fred Helde has passed on. Fred was the ultimate sprint car fan. He was a season ticket holder at Skagit for decades and traveled extensively watching sprint car racing.

A friend to all that knew him and one of the nicest guys around. Sprint car racing in the NW has lost a good friend. We can only hope there are tracks in Heaven and they run sprint cars so that Fred will never have to miss a race.

A memorial service will be held in his honor October 18 at 1:00 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt Vernon (2015 E. Blackburn Rd.).

Rest in peace, Fred. Skagit won't be the same without you. Hopefully, the racing in heaven will be great and you will get to see alot of great people that we know have passed and have started their own "class" in the sky.

Thoughts and prayers with the family.

RIP Fred.  We have really lost a special person, I could never walk by Fred in the stands without stopping by, holding hands and just checking in.  The last time we spoke at the races he said, he just wasn't ready yet, he wanted to get another season in.  And he did.  God Bless You Fred, I will miss you greatly.:(

We truly have lost a good freind..and ultimate fan!! My family has known him well for years..and the night of my bad crash, he had collapsed in the stands so we were being treated in the ER at the same time. We got to holler at each other, and indeed, he wasn't ready to go yet!!

I have a feeling that he and Jimmy Collier, and the rest are awaiting the 2009 season!!!
