|Starks Primed for Opportunity at Jackson Nationals
Inside Line Promotions - PUYALLUP, Wash. (June 25, 2019) - Last weekend was another washout for Trey Starks, who watched as three scheduled races at three different tracks in three days all rained out.
Starks and Gobrecht Motorsports have another three-race weekend on tap as they head to Minnesota for the 41st annual AGCO Jackson Nationals hosted by Jackson Motorplex. The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event runs Thursday through Saturday at the oval in Jackson.
"The track is nice and wide and gives you a lot of room," he said. "It's a track that suits me. It's a well-rounded track. I think it will be exciting to get a 410 on it. I don't think there will be a huge difference (from the 360)."
Starks has two career starts at Jackson Motorplex. He placed ninth during his debut in May before rallying for a runner-up result earlier this month.
"We've been fast when we've got to race this year," he said. "It has been in a 360, but I think it's good to get some solid laps there. We've had as many laps there as anyone this season even though it hasn't been that many."
The AGCO Jackson Nationals pays $41,000 to win and $3,000 to start Saturday's main event. Both preliminary nights pay $10,000 to win.
"I'm just excited to get three days of racing in in general," he said. "You have the Outlaws and some of the best drivers in the country. Everyone is itching to go racing. If we're on top of our game I think we can have a good weekend. As racers we haven't been able to make a ton of money in the Midwest this season because of the rain. The great payout the Jackson Nationals offers is more of an incentive, but I'm out there to win every race."
