FIRE CRACKER 100 at SUNSET SPEEDWAY 4th of JULY CELEBRATION
Stars will rise and stripes will checker at Sunset Speedway’s racing and fireworks extravaganza!!!! After being refreshed and aerated by the Lely Roterra, the racing surface promises bite, grip, and the unexpected high line. Great efforts by Water Truck John kept the clay drinking all week promoting a surface worthy of extreme oval competition.
The local stars of racing will gather to test for supremacy. Robert Sumerhaulder #32 won the last Pure Stock race tagging his first ever feature win at Sunset Speedway and looks for a repeat performance. Randy “Dominator” Allen #86 shows no signs of slowing down this 2009 season as he slices and dices from the back to win the last Street Stock race. The Pure Stock and Street Stock competition has been fierce and furious, and it’s only getting more ferocious.
Hard luck for Sonny Sayre last race as there was a disturbance in the force bending both ends of the #50 frame. Bob McGrotty #23 sang the blues, “You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille…I mean loose wheel!!” McGrotty lost not only both rear wheels, but axles too last race. Thanks to the quick offensive driving of Tow Truck Bob, the ambulance was protected and the #23 has something to put back together. Part of racing is overcoming obstacles, and these two drivers will showcase guts and determination racing in this race celebrating independence.
The Warriors of Dirt Touring Series will be at Sunset in FORCE this 4th of July. Greg “Hollywood” Walters will square off against Scott “Ironman” Puncochar for 100 tire tearing laps as these guys where SCORCHING fast last race. Puncochar set track record (13.420!!!) during qualifying June 13th 2009 at Sunset Speedway and looks to break it again.
Steve “Primal” Suckow #37, with his last qualifying time 13.964 at Sunset could be the unexpected checker stealer. Bob and Doug Trout will continue to pressure the more experienced drivers with their exponential improvements. Danny Smith #06 fired off a solidly fast qualifying time and is getting the hang of turning fast consistent laps.
Jerry Schram #16 with a history of dirt moving, looks to fan off the loose marbles from the high side clearing his way to the front. Jerry may not be a farmer, but he has grown an already great racing facility into a premier venue for competition. Now he has 100 laps to show his driving Mojo against a deep in talent field. In one of Jerry’s cars, Tim Goodwin, the hot shoe from time past will be looking for two in a row after winning the last race in Elma. Either Jerry or Tim, the odds of a Schram/Kartco Masterbilt finding a home in 4th of July victory lane is a sure bet.
Kartco master chassis artist Jason Wines #41 is tuned and foot tapping ready to fire his red Mastersbilt to the front. First to win at Sunset this 2009 season, Jason is due to collect a second.
Terry “The Gentlemen” Ferrando #12 is focused on one lap, the last one. Winning a championship in 2008 without a single feature win left the desire of Ferrando in want. Then after showing up to Sunset with a great car last race, and then suffering a rain out, the pent up frustrated energy comes loaded in the #12 like a bottle rocket waiting for a match.
ONE HUNDRED LAPS of all out oval fireworks followed by air burst traditional fireworks. Sunset Speedway, the place to be for 4th of July!!
