still working on that info!!!   I know bobG and I will be there to help organize the buzzing.    As far as entry and payout, it is still unknown, I'm sure it will be the same as the tuff trucks and quads ect......  It may be free to enter for all I know.   As for a points race, it is not.   I am going to race around and have fun.

You guys and your Hornets!

A gathering of racers in the pits the other night has us thinking we might as well park all other classes next year and we'll all run Hornets.  Our Hornet class in itself now far outnumbers all other classes put together, there must be something to it?

We have noticed the Tech Team is into it.  They actually inspect the Hornet class pretty closely.  They had said at the Spring Meeting that the direction of travel on the track would be determined by a flip of the coin before each race to eliminate the urge to set up the car to turn left, but this has never happened.

It was supposed to be a class for beginners ONLY but just about anybody from any class can jump in one and race, apparently.  It's interesting what happens when an experienced driver gets into one, the competition doesn't seem to mind.

So, is there any particular brand/model of car, in your opinion,  that is favored as a Hornet?  I fully intend to start looking for one.

Rev, that's a fine looking pit crew in your avatar.

from my experience..you want to think IMPORT! toyotas are really good expecially the tercels because they are so light. they only come with a 1.5 enigne but its so light its still fast..also hondas are really good just ask Jeff solburg! :P

and you could even go with a VW but you might have to get some cheater tips from andy/sandbagger :P:D

Jeff... I have had about every type of race car and have raced them all over the US and Mexico ...And i have more FUN in my junky beat to death pile of crap honda civic . I  think its because i can race with all my buds that normaly cant afford to race with me at other events . We all mess with each other before...during and after the races and afterwards we re live every turn and bump. I have been known to put empty beer cans under seats so thay roll under your pedals and i grease gear shift knobs as much as i can and a big zip tie on a axel or drive line makes a noise that makes you think its all going bad . Here at dcs there are about 35 hornets and we get about 20 at every event. Your right about it being a begainer class but for guys like me and a few of my close friends its a way to play cars with each other and not have to worry about the cost of the car its motor or the tires  .....As for what car to use ...... Honda 87 or newer

The imports seem to work pretty good.  I have driven several different makes and they all seem to handle good.  Toyota, Honda, Geo, and even my favorite, Vw.  I think a lot of it is in the drivers hands also.

I  mainly say honda because of the availbility of used parts . seems that there are more hondas around than any other . I will say that my civic can not take a hit at all . one of my buds give me a bumper at the end of the straight and i did a 360 spin with out tuching a thing and it rolled the right rear  under the car as if it was hit right in the wheel . andys vw chassi is a little stronger and the motor is alot stronger. Chris is right about the toyota terdshell thay are very good cars but you need to find one that is efi . The early carb mods have problems in the carbs buy this time in there life .

I have to agree with chris the toyotas are good cars the only problenm i have found with the tercels that have the efi is the rev limiter is set to low other then that mine handles great and is pretty tough

i was going to say that too... possible try and find out what year the first efi tercel or "turdshell" :D was made and check that out cuz jack has a 93 i think it is and he cant go 3/4 the way down the straight without the rev limiter hittin. and cant run 3rd cuz you dont get it in the corners.

so maybe a little bit older one will have a different gear set up then the newer ones
