I might be able to score an old 12 (maybe 14) footer.  It's in Cave Junction right now.  It wouldn't take much to get it to Grants Pass.  How soon do you need a definitive answer about it?

I have a couple in Spanaway, WA. I was going to bring them to Port Angeles, but they are not on trailers. I believe both are 18'.

It's a bit of a drive from OR, but the offer is there.

A novelty race in which race cars of any type, J~Cars or other properly prepared cars/trucks drag boats around the water soaked track while trying to dislodge the boats of other competitors.

Section 18 ~ BOAT RACE RULES (sept 27)

18         GENERAL

18.1      All rules are subject to Technical Discretion.

18.2      RACECARS

18.2.1   Race cars from any division are approved,  Other vehicles entered must meet tech safety requirements. No RV vehicles or oversize vehicles approved.

18.2.2   Roll Cages are not required.

18.2.3   A car without a roll cage must have the door seams plated and welded shut. A minimum of four (4) plates 2" wide by 4" long must be welded on each door (2 in front and 2 in back).

18.2.4   A vehicle without a roll cage shall have a driver door protection. Subject to tech approval (ie grader blade welded the length of door.

18.2.5   Seat belts and shoulder straps are required for all drivers.

18.2.6   Window nets that operate easily and pass tech are required on all entries

18.2.7   A front windshield or mesh screen with bracing is required. Must pass tech.

18.3      BOAT HITCH

18.3.1   The vehicle and boat must be equipped with a chain or cable and clevis (a U-bolt with a cotter pin) to connect the boat to the vehicle with no more than a two foot (2') separation.

18.3.2   A quick disconnect is required.

18.4      BOATS

18.4.1   Boat must be fiberglass. NO ALUMINUM.

18.4.2   All brackets and gear that could be considered harmful, (including out-drives, out-boards, engine and drive-train, etc.) must be removed.

18.6.1   Do not speed . Stay with the pack. This is competition, not a race. Competitors are judged by how well they take out other boats and preserve their own. Out-distancing the pack to preserve your own boat may be judged poorly.

18.6.2   Vehicles may tow more than one boat at a time, but they must not be be carried on or in a tow vehicle.

18.6.3   A vehicle may only ram a boat. Vehicles MAY NOT ram other cars.

18.6.7   Cars that have lost their boats may continue to circle the track looking to push/hit a dislodged or connected boat, but must exit the track if directed by track officials.

18.6.8   Drivers may not get out and re-connect their tow cable to another boat after the race has started.

18.6.9   Drivers and passengers are not to get out of their cars under green conditions for any reason (this includes working on the car), unless the car is in the pits or the track is red and the driver is directed to do so by track staff.

18.7      FLAGS AND WINNER

18.7.1   Yellow and Red Flag; please remember, there is alot of flying debris out there, and the safest place for you is in your vehicle

18.7.2   Winner; will be declared after the determined laps have been completed and the entry with the highest amount of points is determined.

I might be wrong frogman but i think thats where its headed ...In the past years  the classic was looked at as the BIG ONE when it come to j cars ...Teams like the wilbor bunch would work for days making there tanks un stopable and there were cars come from miles around to show them there cars were beter built and the carnage would fly. I think it was mostly for braging rights of who was the badest but it also would put a 1000,00 in your pocket ....Over the last three years the j car count has droped to 5 or 6 and there were fast car come in to take the 1000,00 home ....So the race become a 50 lap sprint with the one who won never tuching a car and the j cars that put on the show just left with what was not given to the sprinters .....I may be wrong here but i think this is adams way to put the money back into the pockets of those who ....HIT SOMETHING .....Have fun you guys be safe and remember to stop by my shop truck and take something cold from the ice chest .

What happens in the future when most of the boats and travel trailers get smashed up, I guess they will tackle that issue when it gets here. I know one thing for sure the classic was the only race I stood in the rain to watch its a great loss.
