We'll see what comes out of the shop after this winter....:D  Jr. wants to race two divisions next year and get a beast of a motor for the 71.  He'll be giving WSK all of his money....

Hopefully the Rev. and team figures out the FWD car and paves the way for a new breed of mini's.

But, isn't "Mini Stock", and "Compact", and  "Pony Car" class all about rear wheel drive cars?

Man, we had one hell of a shake up in our Compact class this weekend.

Times are changing and we are trying to keep up with the times . I think its all about what is out there to be found to race . front drive cars are every where and in every back yard . If billy bob sees a car like the one that he drives to work out there smoking tires then billy bob is more likly to come and play him self .

So Oh-Oh what happend there in the compact class ?????? :)

When i had hair.....my first race car was put together out of junk and spare pocket change. I put it together in a dirt drive way with a tarp over me . You would be suprized what you can do when you put your mind to it . You can get started buy striping the car out . With every pound you take off . ..you make that car faster . So by just striping it out you are making your self a race car . Then just go out and sit in the thing every night and think about what you can do to it with no money . Start asking racers aroud you if thay have parts for sale . You will find that racers will start giving you what you need to help you along if thay see that you are making a effort .

Evergreen Speedway in WA runs them... Scirrocoos, Rabbits, Jettas... They are the fastest thing there.. I think a civic with a V-tec would do good. And it can weigh almost nothing.. I was thinkin a 88-91 3 door civic with the newer twin cam V-tec would whip a 2300 or anything elses ***!! Lots of parts for them out there. I think stock they would do well cause of the light weight.

The FWD cars are not the fastest cars at Monroe. It's a 240SX.  There's two or three really fast FWDs but still three to four tenths slower than the Nissan.

Well it's a long story,  part of it includes why I won't race in our Compact class at Montana Raceway Park.  Kind of an ongoing saga, not unlike what goes on at your track and most others.  The difference being you guys want to work it out and your track management wants to make it work.  Here it's cheaters vs. honest racers and just a big joke.  The car count has  gotten so miserable we can't figure out what the fans are coming for, must be the cold beer.  Funny how track management doesn't seem to care.  What's going on here?

Three more Compact cars dropped out last week, vowing never to return.  Bummer.  The reason was, again, "we don't know who the rules are aimed at, and how to get exemption status from them".  Kind of a different way of saying what I have said for three years now.

Well lo and behold, suddenly the class representative, seemingly automatic "Sportsman of the Year" recipient forever, biggest cheater and joker the track has ever seen but the darling of the track manager, gets protested (by the driver he got DQ'd last week on a pretty minor infraction).  Joker refused to allow his car to be inspected.  Bad idea, even for him.  He was DQ'd for that night and two previous nights.  In his fit of rage he announced that they "better have lots of black flags ready next week."  We guess that means that since he is no longer a contender for a third consecutive championship,  he'll be there next week to wreck people.  Nothing terribly new, just unusual to give warning...

Two racers I talked to yesterday now don't want to be on the same track with him, an attitude I've had for two seasons now.  But maybe there was a message from the track, finally, that there really was a reason they waste so much paper and ink on a rulebook every year.  Interesting....

Should be a heck of a race next week!

But Hey, I didn't mean to hijack your topic.  I wish our track had a forum.  I admire you guys for your ability to discuss things and help each other out.  The Minis thrive at DCS because you care, and your promoters care.  I've seen ideas and advice here that I only dream of implementing at our track, had I the authority to try to help out there.  It has seemed as if they want us all to go away, and it's been working!

I say go fwd.  If you do your research you can run circles around 90% of the 2300's while not breaking the bank.

Wow ...Sounds like it got a little crazy there  Buy the way you say that guy is acting ....you guys should let him go onto the track for the main and when all of you come around for the green all of you go in and leave him out there to run all by him self .... ;)

Rev we had a front wheel drive car in the class about 5 years ago when i first started... The thing was always way too loose. And they could not get the thing to tighten up.. George Insly woned it for a while (he is always at the track in the stands might be good to tak to)... I dont know much about front wheel drive cars but it seems with all that weight in the front it would be hard to get them to handle good. Just my two cents I may be susprised....

Good Luck.

It used to be the VW's up there a few years back. I honestly believe you can make ANYTHING work with enough perseverance and time. Look at how good the Honda's do in stock trim in the Hornets... Put on better rubber and some other trick goodies and they will be a tough contender IMO, especialy a V Tec.. Go from a stock torque cam to a race profile by doing nothing but standing on the gas!!!
