Yea he is a heck of a nice guy. I may just take you up on that some day, but I have never put a cage together. I would be interested in helping you on your next cage so I could learn how it is done.

That sounds like fun ....So dave have you found a car for jr .  By the way how did your van end up in the last race ...I remember banging doors with ya a lap or two ...And when i parked my van beside yours in the pits i seen that the tires were all flat .

No I have not found a car yet. The van is fast, I passed the four vans in front of me and took the lead in 2 laps. I stayed out front for a long time went to lap a couple of vans (I dont remember which ones), I tryed to go three wide through the middle down the back stretch and got sandwiched in the middle. Both vans hit the front fenders  with there quarters , they both ended up nose to nose with me in the middle on the gas pushing them down the back stretch and I blew a tire AGAIN. It was great. Thanks to you and Adam I have had so much fun running the van. Hope to be able to do it again next season.

Hey Rev, what are your thoughts on the #9. I just made it through the 20 laps on Saturday when the engine spun a bearing. I thought for sure it was the rod that I had to modify to fit civic rod bolts (just trying to get it through the last race), but it wasnt. What I am wondering is if the bottom end of this engine is going to be a problem at 6500 rpms. It only has 7mm rod bolts. I was going to give this car to the kid but I dont know if it is going to be reliable. I was thinking about getting another used engine and putting new rings and bearings and giving it another try.

I had this problem on one of my road corse cars but it was at 7500 ...If it stacked the bearings then i would say its the bolts ....If its dry of oil then mabe you need to work on the pick up tube and build a baffel around it to hold the oil around it . or the return holes in the head needs to be opened up to get the oil back down to the pan . If it stacked the bearings i would go see ron and get a set of ARP bolts for a 289 ford . and use a strech gauge instead of a torque wrench .

It didnt stack the bearings. would you build a baffle on the pick up tube or in the pan?

It needs to be in the pan ... With holes around the bottom so fresh oil can run in . Make it big enough so there is always a qt or two of oil at the pick up  ...You may also be using to thin of oil ... As heat and rpm go up the protective layer gos down . I just use 50wt in everything i play hard in . You can also mess with the bypass spring in the pump to raise the psi at the bearing .  You have it apart i would put the ARP bolts in it just to be safe ...if the ford is to big then use the honda .  HOPE THIS HELPS .
