For the money you will spend, you will probably not find a better tire than the actual track tire we used to use the Nankang tire from Big O.

Thanks for the info justin i have bought a set of these from chris to start out the season with . thay were priced right but the rubber rating is only 340 . the track rule says i can run 380 compound but i have yet to find a compound close to the 380 rating . when i ran my hornet car last year i found that the 400 was the much better tire and at one point i had found a 440 . i would like to know what tire did thay use when the 380 rule was put into place and what planet did it come from

That rule started as a Nankang rule. Then it opened up to a 380 tread rating for out of towners (because they come so often...haha). At that time, the Nankang's were 380. The ones I bought for last year were 380. I don't know why yours are different unless they just changed. Goodyear makes a tire that's about $100 that's a 380 also, I have used them and noticed no difference except in the wallet. I vot that the mini's go to a spec Goodyear or Hoosier 7" wide slick and end all tire BS. The track makes money and the drivers can stop bitching about tires.

I guess we're switching to Hoosiers. Specs are unknown to the racers as of yet.
Last time we tried this it was mandated that we run the new Eagle grooved tires which the track would provide, but somewhere between the spring meeting and the season opener that got changed to "keep running your used slicks or whatever" without letting us know that there would not be any tires for sale at the track.
That was an interesting surprise. Lucky I had a little rubber left on last year's tires. I was advised that wouldn't work, but having no choice we ran 'em.
Third place Main Event finish that night...
