I really like watching the short track races in NASCAR. They are usually very exciting races. This past Sunday's race was as about as boring as the get, IMO. The only good thing about the race was getting to see Jeff Burton win.

I'm going to mark out a little to NASCAR here.  I think it was the "green" racetrack conditions.  I don't think the top line ever really came in.  I'm not saying it was exciting, but I did sit and watch it.  I did enjoy watching Burton win.  Like that guy.  The highlight of my day, however, was watching the #18 M&M's car back into the wall. :P

That was the only part of the race that I watched, so My food city 500 was amazing.

Avoiding a wreck Skinner ran into a car with the right front of his car and knocked the oil cooler off.  The oil got on the headers and caught on fire.

I usually watch every week this time of the year.  I watch the start, then catch about an hour or so nap in the middle, then usually catch the last 50 laps.  Once the weather gets nice, my viewing really trails off.  I was a little ticked that Tony got taken out,  sounds like Harvick didn`t mean it, but dang!  Glad that Kasey had a good finish!  He shoulda won on Saturday!

The race was a little boring for a bristol race, I'm not a shrub fan so it was alright that he put it in the wall, plus he drive's a yota. Does anybody else think that hendricks let the wrong driver go, he should of let mears go in my book, and way to go to the other driver from washington (Biffle)on a great finish.

So we are all pretty much sprintcar fans on this board.  No cup race will ever be as exciting as a sprintcar race.

I'm still trying to figure out what people mean when they say that a cup race was boring.  Yeah, I've seen some 1.5 mi races with little  passing / lapping that I might say were boring, but I usually find something in them that is interesting to me.

Not to accuse anyone of being a crash fan, but if you thought Bristol was boring because of the lack of crashes....  I liked the side by side racing, the racing through the lappers and the strategies that played out (Mikey not pitting midway through).

To me, as long as someone I like is near the front or coming through the field, I don't get bored.  Guess I'm just watching it from a different angle than most.

Short track fendered car racing on pavement is boring unless there is bumping (without spinning) door handle to door handle, rubbing and just general close quarters racing. Bristol used to be like that. Martinsville will be all that and more!

LOL.....Rick, I think Bristol is more like the door handle-door handle, close quarters stuff now. The old Bristol was just a super fast Martinsville. Run around in a line for 485 laps and then slam the guy in front of you for a spot. Its gonna be fireworks in a couple. Just no side-by-side racing. There were 3 tracks here in the NW that really provided that. Chapparell her in Boise (Sadly no longer with us),  now 2, Stateline, ID. and Montana Raceway Park. MRP is the freaking bomb. Check it out sometimes peeps, if you haven't been there.

Bristol the other day wasn't the destruction derby it usually is...and I do believe part of it has to do with the track being "green" and one groove for most of the race. Later in the race we saw some more side by side and as partial result we saw a few more accidents. I do agree with Dario Franchitti's (spelling?) description of the track when he first flew over...the Roman Coliseum of NASCAR. Huge stadium around a bullring track known for some destruction of equipment? Dario's description has crossed my mind before. I personally like Bristol and is one of the few NASCAR races I will happily watch end to end like I did on Sunday. I'd like to see a race there in person sometime and I think it'd be much better to watch than what I've seen at Phoenix.

Not true!  Every kind of racing is exciting!  Well, for me anyway. :)  That's why I go to so many!

I'm with you Banker.  I don't watch a 'Cup race with the expectation of the same action I would see at Knoxville or Irwindale.  Just like when I tune into the F1 race, I don't look for the same things as I would watching sprints, midgets or stockcars.

Seems like those who get bored or nap during 'Cup races are people just trying to get some sort of racing action while they are jonesing for the sprintcar season to start.  I suppose hardcore 'Cup fans would watch the Chili Bowl just to get a racing fix in the off season and they may not find it very interesting since they only know a couple of the drivers.

Paldini, just what is the definition of jonesing, and I just thought this bristol race wasn't as good as last years fall race and yes it was probably due to the racing surface being green or no rubber laid down. If it has an engine and it race's I will watch it, I will say F1 is probably the hardest to watch cause there just aren't enough competitive cars in that series and no americans. One of my favorite foreign series to watch would be the australian V8 supercars, but Paldini and Rickt are right, there's nothing like a sprintcar, just the sound and the smell, you just can't beat it;). I've been to what you would call a boring sprintcar race before, one groove track,so it can happen to any race.
