Cool that you posted that Rick. One of my alltime favorites ever. There are not enough words to describe how great Alan was to and for the sport of auto racing.

93 wasn't a good year.  I'll never forget when I heard about Davey.

Need to include Kenny Irwin in that list too.  Also it was Adam Petty, not K. Petty.

Hard to believe it has been 15 years. Alan was one of my favorites growing up as well (will ALWAYS be one of my favorite drivers).  Miss the "Underbird" and the Polish Victory Lap.

Remember when Davey came up and raced @ Evergreen.  Seemed like it was a couple of weeks later that he passed away.

An interesting side note, hey Rick, when both Davey & Kenny Irwin passed away, do you recall what team/car they were driving (if my memory serves me right, think was the same car # & sponsor)?

Can't forget about another one of my favorites, Neil Bonnett. Passed away while driving a car for the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

I'm pretty certain it was netters. It was the Yates / Texaco Star  #28 if my memory serves.

So many we've lost that could have been superstars.  Alan was awesome.

Also, Blaise Alexander, John Nemechek and one that always bothered me, Rob Moroso.

Thanks, JayG. Ernie Ervan was in the 28 car when he got hurt pretty bad, too.

Rob Moroso's death was a hard one to take too, Bill. Agree w/ you there.

Kenny Irwin wasn't driving the Yates #28 ford at the time of his death, he was driving the #42 Bellsouth Mobility chevy of Felix Sebates.

That is right racefan. He died in a busch series car during practice. Kenny won the 1998 Rookie of the Year award in the Cup Series driving the Yates racing # 28, Texaco sponsored T-Bird, replacing Ernie Irvan.
