Just recieved an email yesterday from Ed Williams letting me know that Doug Larson passed away July 16th from a heart attack. Doug was from Quesnel BC and was the only 4 time CAMRA champion, having won the championship in '75, '77,'78 & '79. His son Richie raced supermodifieds with NSRA in the early years. It is believed that Doug was 62 at the time of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Larsons.
For those of you that might keep your thumb on the pulse of supermodified racing across the country.....I have read on a couple of other message boards that Terry Gibson lost his life at Toledo last night in an MSA sanctioned event. Terry was the son of supermodified legend Todd Gibson and the brother of Gene Lee Gibson. Just another grim reminder of just how fragile life can be and what this sport we all have a passion for can give to us and then suddenly take away from us. Parents shouldn't have to watch their children go before them. Our heartfelt condolences to the Gibsons.
