Hadn't heard about Dean passing. Always enjoyed racing with Dean and later with Chip.

RIP Dean.

Anybody remember DeBob's Racing Parts. DeBob's was a parts store run by Dean Clark and Bob Wiles.

In 1971 it may have been a Modified Racing Association of Oregon (MRAO) event. They sanctioned open wheel events at Portland in the 60's and early 70's. Most of the tracks didn't start their regular shows until May, so Portland would schedule a couple of early season races and cars would show up from throughout the Northwest. The races were Sunday afternoon and we would have to be done and out of the place before twilight so that they could set up for that nights drive in movie. Usually as we were pulling out the early movie goers were lining up.

Ok.....many of us remember the thread on Hedges forum that JR Ray(sprint8) started and it went forever....if I remember correctly over 1100 posts. Here's my challenge......I would like to see this thread surpass that one. Lots of pics out there to post and comments to be made. Yes many of those photos have already been seen....but not here. I'll keep posting as many pics that I can find but the rest of you need to continue. Thanks to Rick and Greg we have a perfect place to do this....are ya'll game?????

I'll post more when I get back to my computer at home........

Besides the photos that Chip gave me to scan....I also have 3 different old Sky Valley programs from the early 60's. Chip's mom wrote in the qualifying times and race finishes from those particular events. The names that I recognized from so many years ago was pretty kewl. Plus the number of cars was pretty amazing......we'd love to see car counts like that in a single class today. I think the one that I counted had 36 cars qualify on that day. I'll see if I can get them scanned and what kind of luck I have posting them on here.....probably tomorrow night.

Ok.....I'll try this with the older programs. I tried this one first because of what Chips mom wrote on the outside of it.....June 20, 1964. 53 cars timed.....and I don't think it was anything special prgram wise. Way before Dirt Cup.......

Ok....enough programs....I'll go find some photos now.....lol.

This isn't even close to Sky Valley but they are some pics I already have scanned. In 1967 my parents took myself and my cousin (Randy Moser) out of school and headed to California for a week of racing. This was taken at the hotel we stayed at in Sacramento. We went to the USAC show at the old Sac fairgrounds mile....what a treat that was for a high school freshman.......more to follow.
