| Too easy, dear. Not quite sure if it was taken @ the Tacoma Dome or not, but that is definitely the Ram Racecar of one Mr. Jerry Day, if not mistaken. Have a pic of the car from Skagit last year. Have one of his Ram Racecar jackets around the house somewhere. Last edited on Thursday May 18th, 2006 12:27 AM by nettersc39

| Wow, that did not take long. I knew who it was when I received it, because the car races with WCVR's that I have seen at Sunset. But I was not sure how many others would know. As a matter of fact he told me, just kidding with me, that it cost $5 for every photo I take of his car when he was at Sunset last year. I am glad he was just kidding. It would have cost me a lot. I took many off and on the track photos.

Not bad for a youngin' like myself, huh Rick? Now, the 50's I won't be able to touch, though. And, Paul, have always liked that about Jerry, along w/ that hat. Does have a good sense of humor. Last edited on Thursday May 18th, 2006 12:49 AM by nettersc39

FYI, according to Mr. Day, the #76 in the photo was built off the same jig as the first RAM car he built. If you like, Jerry will be happy to build you one also. Just bring $$$$$$ .
If you want to see fine craftsmanship, take a close look at it if you ever get a chance. It has to be one of the best looking vintage sprints around.

| Awesome, awesome race car. You are 100% right OG!!! The thing that amazes me about the car, is he takes it out on the track and races it. It is a real treat to see it run. Attachment: 100_0814.jpg (Downloaded 1022 times)

I wish Ram would recreate that beautiful roadster he used to run on pavement back in the 60s. What a beautiful car! The last I saw of it, was back in the early 80s. It was in rough shape and parked at a gas station down in Oregon. When I went by there a couple months later, I asked the guy pumping gas where the race car went. He said his boss had finally got tired of looking at it and sent it to the crusher over at the scrap yard. What a sad end for such a great car!

Sent it to the crusher!!!!!!!!!!!! That man should be placed in stocks in the community square for auto racing for all to throw tomatos at. Jerry Day is a member of the board, or at least his name is used, you may try to PM him and see if he still has the jig. I know he has one for the one in the pictures.
SENT TO THE CRUSHER!!!!!!! MAN, OH MAN!!!! I SURE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE BEEN AROUND WHEN HE MADE THAT DECISION. I GUESS HE DID NOT REALIZE WHAT IT WOULD BE WORTH AT ALL OF US WHO LOVE RACING.

Kelly Nicholas!!!! Welcome to our little corner of the internet! What took you so long to get here!
You are one of those "whatever happened to..." guys in Northwest racing that occasionally gets brought up in meetings at the Road Knights clubhouse. Good to see that you are alive and well...and even better that you are now a member of nwracechat.com.
Once again, welcome! (and believe me, from a guy with your past, we totally expect you to contribute some stories from the years gone by!)

Hey was checking out the camra stuff that site, the guy in the middle of this picture is Bill Crow, he was my Grandfather. First President of CAMRA. Pretty cool history.

I believe Bill Crow's nickname was "Kissing Crow from Idaho" because he won a lot of trophy dashes and got to kiss a lot of trophy queens. Tough job but somebody had to do it.
Attached photo from Langley Speedway 1967. CAMRA regulars include Lewiston, ID's George Robertson in the forground and the No. 98 that was Norm Ellefson's ride that year.

My father raced with Bill Crow, in Meridian, Idaho as well as other tracks in that area, Ontario, Pocatello, etc............... I can even remember Bill, myself. It was around the era of The PINK LADY, I think. Those were the good old days, everyone wore whites in the pits and even my sibings and myself wore white, ( to be cool if nothing else) and after the races we all went to Shakeys Pizza, OMG did I ever date myself!
THE GOOD OLD DAYS

I believe Art Sugai owned the Pink Ladies for a number of years. Owned a restaurant in Ontario, Oregon? Not positive on that. Was a popular ride as Art Pollard, Jack Eckman, Ken Hamilton, amongst others drove it. I believe the CAMRA roadster was built by Victoria's Grant King.
Found the photo on a site that doesn't seem to exist anymore.

| You are exactly correct, his restaurant was a chinese rest. on a corner in Ontario. Been there many times. I have a great picture of the Pink lady in later years about 1986 I think or around that time. Other names you may know, Newman, Steider, Crowell, Winters, Harris, just some I know for sure. I loved the pink lady, I have some great old pictures from that era but can never get them on here to share with others.

Finally dug around the things I have (not very organized but I can find what I'm looking for eventually) and came across this ad in a Racing Wheels from 1967 for the Art Sugai restaurant.

| That photo goes way back, Bill Crow, (if I am not mistaken) had a club in Garden City, Idaho, called Bills 121 Club, I remember it well, I know it is no longer there. These pictures are great, just wish I knew how to get some on here to share with you all!
