My Dad (Bud Holt) was a racer here in the NW. Mostly stockcars and sprint cars
I have started scaning pics from his album, and wanted to share....
This is a pic of his last sprintcar. Its was powered by a Ranger Aircraft engine, fitted with Hilborn fuel injection. Also sported A Halibrand 6 pindrive Q/C rear. I know that this car was last raced in Great Falls,Mt. in late 1969. He was seriously injured when he was involved in an accident, and the car fliped end over end 5 times.

My personal favorite racecar....
1969 Mercury Cyclone. Holman-Moody chassis w/ super speedway nose! this bad boy sat in our Garage most of my childhood...I loved that car. He gave it to a friend sometime in the mid 80's........ i wish I knew where she was

Very cool photos of the Ranger sprint car. There seemed to be a few in the northwest for a while. Believe it all got started by the late Del Fanning. There is a Hot Rod article on the northwest Rangers from 45 years ago. I'll have to dig that issue out and have a look.
I'll attach a photo of Jim Collier's Ranger tipped on its side for pit work.

That's funny.....been going to leave a Happy B-Day to Kaleb in the other thread with a smart *** comment concerning his dad's age. But then I stopped and remembered that mine just turned 35 in April. Kinda took the wind right outta my sails....lol.
I don't really remember the car being that color when Jimmy had it.....but I do remember it being red I think and Dave Craver drove it for awhile.

Don't know if this is Dave Craver's Ranger but he did email it to me earlier this year. Photo taken at Pacific Raceways (SIR, Kent, whatever they called it these days), around the time it opened in 1960. From what I remember Dave saying they ran a modified, oval-like circuit around the track. Trying to avoid the right hand turns I suppose.
Checking an email from the date of the scan I see Dave i.d.'s the car as "Ray Lang's". I believe that's Laing.
