Budda,

Sky Valley might be one of them, but when I had a chat with hime on Fred's rain out date, I ask him and he told me another track where he got started.

Like I said, "Sky Valley may have beend one of them?"........

Keep trying gang;)

Heck, the Drifter is older than dirt now, so my outside guess would be the old track at Centralia. :)

There was a dirt track at the Central Kitsap fairgrounds till around the mid 70s.  Raced there with a couple friends back around 1972.  Stocks cars, but I remember they did do a few modified shows.

Well, Curt and Speedbuggy are both correct. Started in the mid sixties, racing stock cars at the old dirt track in Port Angeles and also raced on the old Silverdale dirt track. Had 2 cars, both 1954 Fords that we used to flat tow from Neah Bay (managed a fish processing plant there) to either PA or Silverdale. On some days, if there was enough cars, I raced 1 in the B and the other in the A.

The dirt track was located South of PA and the Silverdale track was located behind a grade school. The PA track was a 1/4 mile and so was the Silverdale track. No water trucks then so the PA track was oiled to keep the dust down and the Silverdale track was so dusty it wasn't unusual for the fans to only be able to see the cars on the frontstretch.

Had a good friend, Neil Honka, that I hadn't seen for a long time but I knew he was racing so I called him one day to see what and where he was racing. Went to Spanaway one night to see him and saw my first open wheel race. Got there late and as I walked in I saw Ram (Jerry Day for you youngsters) coming out of turn 4, left front wheel hiked in the air, open headers roaring, leading the rest of the snarling pack.

BOY WAS I HOOKED.

More importantly, I met my lovely wife Jan, there that night and I have been in love with both ever since. :D

And I am older than dirt, past decomposition, and now into pertrification, LOL ....

More later ..............  Dick

OK Speedbuggy,,,,,, you got an A+ plus 100 points too along with CurtK;)

And thanks Dick for helping us out on my question

During our off months we race fans have to find something to keep us at our local tracks, so I enjoy this web page and just wanted to try something new.

If some of my answers are wrong, then correct me and I promise you I won't make you stand in the turn 4 corner:D

Next question will be soon!

Harley Tom
