I was talking to a chilhood friend of mine last night and talk turned to racing, and gravitated to Orval the Daredevil Clown.  While we were talking, he googled Oraval and found that he just passed away on March 28th.  He was 86 years old and died of Lou Gerhig's disease.
Thanks for the memories, Orval!  I gotta believe that, if there's truly a heaven, Orval backed the school bus up to the Pearly Gates, then jumped over it in a 1964 Ford, and made his way into Heaven.   He was one heck of an entertainer, and I'm glad I got to see him perform.

I agree 100%. I remember him at the old Sky Valley Speedway doing his crazy stunts. Anybody that blows themself up with dynomite is pretty cool in my book! ( or at least very disturbed ) but still cool!

He was sure cool to watch.  Here's a pretty good link about him.

Growing up at Sky Valley and Skagit in the 60's, Orval The Clown was the biggest thing to hit these tracks.  He would tell his same great corny jokes and wow what a 'blast' with the anticipation of blowing himself up in that chair of dynamite and all the drivers moving their cars to the other end of the pits.  I think he was up at SKagit & Sky Valley a couple years in a row.

I remember back in the 60's watching Orval drive into the Sky Valley pits with his old ramp truck with an old car up on the ramps...the same one that he would drive or destroy that night. And the big finale..lightin' the stick of dynomite under his chair!
