I will have to find some more Corona pictures to post. I spent many a Saturday night there watching sprint cars, then started racing motocross there.

A bunch of us would go to the Cup race every year in Riverside and this is where we would end up at night. Lots of good times there.

I spent many years at Corona Raceway as well as Ascot. I remember the car but not the driver.

I started at Corona in 1970 and finished up with 3 straight Figure Eight championships before going to the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino to win the Figure Eight championship there in 1884.

Ahhh,,,those were the good old days. I sure miss all of the tracks we've closed in Southern California over the years.

Here's a picture of my latest ride. Winning the Vintage Nationals at Cottage Grove in 2005

The best part is that I drove it to the track for the races, then drove it all the way down the Pacific Coast Highway to Southern California. It was a fantastic adventure that even included a stop for lunch with Don Edmunds in Pistol River.

Marty Strode built this car. I bought it from Lonnie Gilbertson two days befoe the race.

I remember Jim very well.

He was one of the best announcers they ever had and an all around good guy.

The last I heard, Betty Steele the head scorer that sat beside him in the booth was working at Irwindale Speedway. The last time I saw Betty was while signing in at Irwindale about 2 years ago. The last time I saw Jim was probably about 1984 when we won the season ending open comp at Corona.

Where is Jim now?
