Just so everyone knows, I have been informed by the speedway that there will be no Late Model race on Sept 9th at Grays Harbor Raceway. There has been alot of confusion about it and that is the word from the top as of now :(

That sucks...I was trying to make plans to go down there.  Would have been my only trip there this year. :(

That's too bad. They are a fun class to watch. The shootout won't be much without them, 25 hobby's isn't going to draw much for a crowd.  I would like to see them run at Elma more. The open ones, not the crate ones.

This is me just wandering out loud. With Freds passing and now the Late Models being canceled. Is this the last year for the NorthST to run at Lebanon?

I would hope the Northern ST would continue to race at Willamette--its a fun little track, with fun people. If they were not to race there anymore then they would almost certainly have to find a replacement track, as that would leave them with GHR, Cottage Grove, Southern Oregon, and State Fair (which hardly counts, as they only race the one weekend there, and that would be the one to worry about falling off the tour).
There really aren't many dirt tracks in the NW that the NST could run on and put on a a feasible show. I've made my first trips to Madras and Banks, and those places probably arent physically big enough to put on an NST show....although Madras has potential..but again, its so dang far off the beaten path.

hmm I might post this in the NoST forum. I'm intrigued.

I guese if anyone knows which side cancled (brownfield promotions or I-5 (The arnolds)that would answer that question. I know cottage grove speedway has cancled I-5 races literraly a couple days before the race because they were "Afraid they could not cover the purse" I don't know the fan counts for that race to know if that could of been a issue.

Willamette Speedway is always a good show for the NoSt. Hopefully it continues there.

I wonder if Willamette will add late models to their Saturday show? If they do I may have to make the trip.

the late models were never on the schule this year so they were not canceld. not sure why they did not run up there this year last year they ran 2 times but don't think they brought much of a crowed with them.

replace weren't with "AREN'T" anymore.lol

Not 100 percent sure  but like 50 percent that I looked at the GHRP schedule and saw it on there. Then again I have been known to see what I want to see and not what actually was writen before. All you would have to do is get one of those 11x17 posters or the little hands outs and look to confirm that.

Yes we are AR. We love the hobbys..Best race of the year is usually the one you guys and gals put on at the end of the year. And by the way, the lates are not on the schedule but they were. I have schedule hangin on my office wall downloaded a few months ago and it says on Sept 9th "Hobby Stock Shootout with Late Models".:)

K so tenative schedule had late models wich is defiantely what I saw, the printed hard copy dead set in stone deal did not have them.

THIS ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!

As for why they cancled I still have no clue. If somebody could put some light on that subject with some cold hard facts, I would love to know

I would imagine the light will be shed at the drivers meeting tomorrow. It's not that we don't love the hobby's, thats still where my heart is, and I'm still heavily involved in that class. I just rarely drive them any more. It's the fact that the late models only come to Elma once a year and they are impressive machines and drivers. Our track is perfect for them to display the capabilities of that class. Much better than the small tracks they usually are on. I say get them up here a couple times a year and make it a points race so we get 40 of them. That, along with a hobby show would be excellent.

They are unbelievable fast Bill..That raw horsepower they have is perfect for Elma. They have a driver named Mayea that flys around that place. They are just cool to watch..

After seeing sprints at GHR I would be real interested in seeing late models there. The only place I have seen late models is Sunset and that track is just to small and tight for any kind of HP's. I sure hope they come back next year, because it will give me a reason to haul my butt up there, not that I really need an excuse.

I heard and don't know if this is true but came from somebody that knows the know of racing. He said that the new promoter of GHRP did not want to run the Late Model race.  Anyways just passing along what I heard.
