HayWire Racing Returns To Port -

Graham, Wa. –
6-14-08 – The HayWire Motorsports team and the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry return to Port Angeles Speedway for the 2008 Limited Late Model Racing Series’ third event on June 14th, 2008 at Port Angeles Speedway.

During the first visit by the Limited Late Model Racing Series to Port Angeles Speedway in the 2007 season, the #68 HayWire Motorsports team set the track record for the LLMRS, which still stands today. “I’m looking forward to returning to PA,” said driver “Terrible” Tim McDougald, “We set track record there last time, and I’m looking forward to seeing if we can break our own record. I’m sure some guys will be fast this time so I don’t know if it will stand this time. But with a little luck, we’ll still hold it.”

Left to watch the event’s activities that evening after mechanical problems sidelined the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry in the Trophy Dash, the team still seeks redemption from that first visit. “It was really a heart breaker,” said McDougald, “The guys deserved a lot more than 2 laps, that’s for sure. They did a great job giving me an amazing car, and I just didn’t come through with the results. We had a lot of bad luck last season, and it has kind of found us again this season. I’m trying to figure out how to shake it, last year it was with us for far too long and I don’t want to repeat that this season. So I’m going to be approaching this race a little more seriously, more focused.”

After major damage during a racing accident left the #68 Toyota Camry hanging on the wrecker during the second event of the LLMRS season at Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval, the HayWire Motorsports team has had their work cut out for them preparing for this event. “It seems like we never get caught up,” said McDougald, “And every time we do, something happens. My guys, I can’t say enough about them. They have been doing whatever it takes to keep this car together and running. It’s been a lot of long hours, late nights & extended weekends, but they never give up.”

Moving up the point standings, the HayWire Motorsports team finds themselves in 7th place after race 2, climbing 2 spots from 9th, where they stood after mechanical problems once again ended their night short after winning the Trophy Dash in the season opener. “It seems like we can never catch a break,” said McDougald, “We won the Dash at Ephrata, and the car broke. We qualified 2nd fastest at Wenatchee, had a great car and several of the cars in front of us in the points were not there. So it looked like a great night to really make up some ground, then the rain came.” Heading to Port Angeles, the #68 HayWire Motorsports team looks to climb higher on the point standings, as they rally to return to the top of the charts. “We finished last year 6th in the points,” said McDougald, “After all the bad luck early in that season, that was a great finish. I’d like to think we are capable of challenging for this championship. Being fast every event is nice, but we need to finish out the night. We know what we have to do. We just need things to start going our way, instead of the other way. I think PA is a great place for that to happen. You always pick out the tracks on the schedule that you know you should do well at. We always have a good car there, so that’s one I look forward to when I look at the schedule.”

Look for the #68 KMB Design Groups / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves / Mauritsen Enterprises Toyota Camry to try to outrun the bad luck as the HayWire Motorsports team continues their run in the 2008 LLMRS season. And be sure to catch the #92 RPM Sales & Service / Old West Graphics / Ringers Gloves / KMB Design Groups / Mauritsen Enterprises Pontiac Grand Prix on the Whelen All-American series schedule at Evergreen Speedway.
