OK, this is probably a strange request... My cousin races up north and tuned me in to this site... My son is turning 4 next month and he is gung-ho about racing.

I would really like to find a car to park in front of our house on 6/2 from 11:30 - 1:30pm so the kids can get their picture taken with it.  Please let me know if you or someone you know may be willing to make a kid's birthday unforgettable!

I am in the Renton Highlands, just 3 miles east of I-405. Would love for any other ideas.  A car... a real Race Car driver!!  This would really mean the world to my son.  Willing to discuss a $$ rate.

Yikes - I wouldn't even know how to get ahold of either of these people... any suggestions?

Keep in mind, any older car would be fine too - even if it's not in commission any more. I just need something that looks fast with a number on the side... :-)

Dan Dunlap reads this board regularly.  I think he does live in the highlands too.

Thanks James - I'm heading to Alaska at 6am... so it probably won't be until late tomorrow.  Talk to you then!

Sounds like it's time to start looking at Quarter Midget Racing for you and your son, try to find a copy of last Monday's Herald (Everett I think), nice little article on Monroe's new track. QM's are open to kids age 5 to 16 and are a great family sport.

Best of all it is FREE to watch!

We run at Skagit on dirt, Monroe is asphalt.

Best Luck with your speed demon! It could be way worse!

One very good looking midget car is the black 10 of Matt Stone.  They do LOTS of promotional static displays.  You might try them at http://www.mattstoneracing.net.

Hi, my name is Toby, I am on Dan Dunlap's pit crew, I just talked to Dan and he said he would be happy to help you out.  He lives on the other side of the Freeway and he owns & drives the #15 sprint car at Gray's Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA.

He will be home after 7:30 tonight, his home # is 253-859-5329.

Did you find someone for this?  Have to roll through there on the way to Elma with the 91 and 92 cars as well.

Hi Derek, Sorry if this is duplicated... I tried to send a message yesterday but my signal here in Alaska is pretty weak.

Thank you so much for the offer.  I have had a lot of responses and nothing confirmed yet - but it sounds like Dan Dunlap lives very close to me and may be available that day.  Thank you so much for your kindness and everyone else who has responded.  I am so pleasantly surprised how generous everyone in the racing community has been to me, an outsider.(although maybe not for long, as my son may take up the sport!). :-)

Thanks again,

Desi

If you can make it to Grays Harbor Raceway on a Saturday night ... I'll treat you both!

Oh hey!  This post was actually from last year. :)  Dan Dunlap brought his car and made a most memorable birthday for my son.

Thanks though!
