Wild Win for Whitlow
POST FALLS, IDAHO – August 2, 2007 – Will Whitlow finished the Bump to Pass main event win sideways to win the divisions 20-lap grand finale during Wednesday Night Fever at Stateline Speedway.
Whitlow won the A heat and started deep in the pack for the main event. An opening lap 5-car malay in turn one restarted the race and allowed Whitlow to move up quickly. Whitlow nudged by leaders Joel Schrader and Bob Willis with “Crazy Taxi” driver Darryl Carillio in tow.
With 5-laps to go Whiltow maneuvered past lapped traffic as Carillio closed the gap in second. On the last lap heading into the final corner Carillio dove to the bottom of the track-nudging Whitlow in his big blue Station Wagon sideways.
Whitlow applied the gas, corrected the car, and slid down the front stretch to finish first. Carillio held for second. Schrader third. Robby Cartwright and John Hollingsworth won the dashes. James Cotter won the B Heat.
Rodney Sankey scored his first Fever 4 main event of the season holding off John Vallone in the closing laps of the 30-lap feature for the win. Vallone finished second followed by fast time setter Mel Auckerman. Colton Garber and dash winner Matt Schoen rounded out the top five.
Dave Hatton continued his dominance in the Road Runners winning the fast dash and crashed filled 20-lap main event to pick up his eighth win of the season. Jamie Allen finished second. Heat winner Darrin Meeks, who led the most laps, finished third. Reed Skinner won the D Heat and C Main. Shane Zettle passed Todd Jensen to win the 15-lap B Main.
