I got an email from a guy named Ron who is starting up a site called http://www.therestofthedirt.com (The Rest of the Dirt). Ron is a freelance writer that has written for several different dirt track magazines for many, many years. He got tired of writing about the same group of people over and over and over again... 'cause.... he knew there were 1000's of great stories out there that don't get heard simply because the drivers/teams weren't sitting on top in points in a major racing series.
Sooooooo... Ron is attempting to start a site telling the stories of tracks that get hardly any publicity, lower support classes that get overlooked, and diehard fans/officials/promoters/etc that people just need to know about. If you have any stories to share about your favorite track, fan, track official, driver, pit crew member, etc............ please pass it on to Ron.
I think this is such a great idea... and a great way to promote the spirit of dirt track racing. After all, high profile sponsorships and big dollar rides are in no way a true measure of the "spirit of racing."
