Here is a less than positive article. Please note where NASCAR representative says they can care less about weekly short track racing on Saturday night. Now maybe some of those people that really think we local short trackers are part of the big picture, can open up their eyes...

From the article: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/brant_james/08/13/inside.nascar/index.html

NASCAR managing director of racing operations George Silbermann, who oversees the series' weekly program, acknowledged the conundrum and said small operators can compete with Sprint Cup by clicking on the race in the snack bar, putting it on the video board if they have them. But Cretty said no one should be fooled that NASCAR has a real interest in the survival of grass-roots short track racing. "I don't think NASCAR could care less about short tracks," he said. "If they care about them at all, they wouldn't be doing Saturday night racing."

Sounds like George Silbermann has had to answer to his series tracks a few too many times.

Oh well, he'll probably be looking for work soon- being stabbed in the back by his leadership in Florida.

Damn NASCAR.

By next Sunday, most of you will forget about this as you tune in to watch your favorite racer. I wonder what the Cup drivers think about this. Probably less than a handful that have the balls to say anything bad or good about it.

Nothing new to my ears.. Napcar has been going in this direction for years. What really sucks is that some of my best years in racing were spent running a latemodel on pavement at many Napcar sanctioned short tracks. It was a blast. What happened to that? Oh yes......that money thing.. If you ever have a few minutes next time you are at South Sound, ask Butch why Napcar ain't there no more..

Rickt

Remember though guys, this is obviously a semi disgruntled NASCAR employee who was asked a pretty loaded question.  Not that I don't agree with what you're saying about what NASCAR cares about, BUT sometimes we say things in the heat of conversation that we don't fully mean either.

Either way, I'll be at the racetrack on Saturday and probably sleep through NASCAR again on Sunday. :)

I hate to play deveils advicate here but you guys are reading this wrong.  If I am not mistaken Cretty doesn't work for Nascar.
