" NO PROMOTORS, NO HAND PICKED BOARD MEMBERS, NO POLITICS", if we as group can avoid it! This group is in its formative stage as you read this, we have a very strong nucleus of the best NON-WINGED SPRINT CAR and MIDGET OWNERS AND/OR DRIVERS in the NORTHWEST at this time. Our adgenda will be open to all members, YOU MAKE THE DECISIONS, YOU DECIDE OUR VENUE ----- WHAT TRACKS WE RUN, WHEN WE RUN, AND HOW MUCH WE RUN FOR ! But remember the one defining FACT in this game is CAR COUNT, CAR COUNT, CAR COUNT, the track owners/promotors first question is how many SPRINTS and MIDGETS can we guarantee, if our numbers are good, they will pay good. Please, come join us and be a founding member of this new group and help us grow, ALL ARE WELCOME !
OUR SECOND MEETING WILL BE HELD IN A WEEK OR TWO
ALL INQUIRES WILL BE ANSWERED

If we as a group can avoid it? So what will be the excuse when the inevitable happens?

| Tony, since you are the only one to reply back and I assume you were at Cottage Grove, fill us in. Who is heading this deal, who's in, who's out, what about McCann and Van Raden ????? You have always seemed to " tell it like it is ", what's up here ?

Well, as for this new series, I am not a part of and I really do not know alot of facts about it and those questions should be ansewered by someone other than myself.
The real just of it, in my opinion, is this group has wants or needs that ODSS doesn't seem to fill completely in one manner or another.
Again, my opinion is that some just want to race more weekends and more places than our schedule and some believe our series is fixed and favors some over others and that Mike McCann and everbody involved in the ODSS are morons.
So, in true American form, it would appear that they have choosen to do something about it.
As for McCann and Van Raden, and the ODSS, this is of no surprise. There have been many accusations made about these two guys and much of the group, including myself. With that, a sour note has hung with this group all year. My hopes is that this allevaites this in some way.

Are you talking about sportsman, Ford Focus or what (class) kind of midgets?
Dirt or pavement or both?
I'm always willing to listen.
As far as "no politics", there is no such thing, but it's a good idea.
No promoters - someone has to set-up the races...
Tell us more.

| regardless what is being said against this new group, they have not only the funds but the backing of track promoters to suceed. if mccann and van raden had done a better job over the years id say it would never happen, but there are enough track owners that like non wing cars and dislike noma/ usca that this is going to happen. dates are already being sceduled for next season, and anyone who questions the competition level of this group only need to go to the next race at lebanon on oct 4th... or better yet just ask anyone who was at lebanon last sat night.what they did last week to gary davis was wrong, and premeditated. it would be one thing if it was an isolated incident, but they have a history of tactics just like this. i recieved a call just today from someone who was told by the midget powers that be that next year if any usca/noma member runs any track outside a noma/usca schedule, they will be banned for life. whether or not this rule is enfored doesnt matter, however it gives you a glimps inside the thinking of these so called officials. even all you naysayers that support mcaann deal wouldnt like it if someone tried to push you in this manner. if they do decide to enforce this rule, id say the car count just went up in nwwwt. i have raced sprint cars for years and i have always prided myself in the fact that i always congratulate the winner. its only good sportsmanship. where is the sportsmanship of this assn not to congratulate gary davis? whether you like him or not, he still one the championship, and any attempt at this point to keep throwing races up to try to take it away from him only shows how petty you guys really are. these are exactly the kind of politics that will allow the new group to suceed. in fact, i think they are already suceeding, 14 midgets and 14 sprint cars at lebanon is a good start in my book, in fact i bet gary wishes he could do it over that would have made 15. keary morris

WOW ! Someone opened a big can of worms! I don`t have a dog in this fight, (bad pun these days) , but as a fan, this split doesn`t sound good for the near future of wingless sprints in Oregon! With the light ASCS schedule this year I got to go to a couple shows and really enjoyed it , (sat behind Tony`s family at St. Helens, good people!) I had a real problem with how the sprints were treated at Sunset in the past and vowed not to return, That lasted till this seasons ASCS race........couldn`t stay away. I saw some good racing at St. Helens and Madras and was surprised that car counts were as good as they were! Now with the split, we will be seeing diminished fields no matter what! I just hope this "He said / She said stuff gets resolved and you all end up at the same track on the same night!
I guess we will see how things go in OCT. at Willamette. It would be great to see politics put aside and have a great field of cars racing!

This has been brewing for a few years now. I do not really care who races where or with what group as long as they race. Wingless sprints and midgets are very fun to watch and I hope this issue does not hurt the sport. I hope the two sides can patch things up and join together for the betterment of wingless racing in the NW.
Can't we all just get along?

Anyone who knows you or your family could not deny that fact Tony. You have the support of great friends and family members and you should be very thankful for that, as I am sure you are. I know I have always enjoyed my conversations with you and your family and friends. People like you and your family make racing the family fun sport that it is.

Sometimes change is good...even needed. But a split very rarely works out well for either camp.
Tony.....you guys had a meeting a few weeks ago where some changes to the way the ODSS does things were brought up. It sounded like once the meeting settled down, there was a good exchange of ideas, and some ideas for change were settled on. As I understand it you took it upon yourself to get those change requests to ODSS management. What happened when you presented your list to the club leadership? Did anything ever come of it?

Mike let me reply, Obviously nothing changed, we had a race after that meeting and it was still the same, hell no one still has came over and welcomed a new racer that was there to the group. And to answer other questions out there, When certain individuals in ODSS drew a line and told ME I need to pick which side I'm on!
BS the side I'm on is the side that provides races and has respect for the teams and the racers. Like I have always said " when you buy my car and until you buy my car I will go and pick whatever race track to race that I choose" The attitudes that I have personally witnessed towards drivers/teams that have spent a lot of money to support that series is crap.. So if you continue to treat people like that , this is what happens.................. Just wait and see, this so called "other group" has NICE cars, GOOD LOOKING teams, very COMPETITIVE, and is there to put on a hell of a show!! And will not hold any Ill well to racers that don't show up for a race and race somewhere else!! COME RACE,GET PAID, GO HOME! ThAnKs...

Steve,
You have known me for a long time, and you know I will not tell you a tale. If you want an answer from Tony or me then send me an e-mail and I will give you Tony's number. All truths are bound to be interpreted to suit the needs of the teller and I don't think that anybody from the ODSS is going to do anymore interpreting on this forum. Tony and others are being positive and some are being negative. Some are caught in the middle.

So Keary, who's car you gonna drive now?
The way you talked the last couple seasons you were on your way to 410's, so what gives?
Just wondering because up here you have never been competitive on your own dime.

| well don s, maybe so, but ive never seen a sprint car on the track with don s on the side? am i missing something or you just letting everyone know where you stand on this issue? i have supported this group from my own pocket since its inception, ive taken cars to car shows, to p.i.r and to harley davidson, handing out flyers year after year for odss, and spending money from my own pocket for entries, fuel as well as my time. i never asked these guys for a dime. what have you done? a personal attack on me i have no problem with, but you havent said a word about the real issue here. oh thats right, like jim says, everything is good... no worrys... its only 5 cars. i counted 28 sprints and midgets last week. hopefully ill see you at a track soon. keary morris

Getting way too personal on the attack front.
