Wingless Nationals to cap off 2008 Silver Dollar Speedway season

(Chico, CA 10-8-08)…The final two nights of racing in the 2008 season at
Silver Dollar Speedway take place this Friday and Saturday night. The
4^th Annual Wingless Sprint Nationals will take place on October 10 and
11. This race features our wingless spec sprint drivers who have become
of major part of racing in the Northern California area. A total purse
of over $18,000 is posted for the two nights with the winner receiving
$2500 on Saturday night. Last year over 50 drivers participated in this
growing event.

Front grandstand gate opens at 5 pm. Friday nighttime trials are slated
to start at 6:30 pm with racing to follow at 7 pm. Saturday night the
front grandstand opens at 5 pm with racing scheduled for 7 pm. Friday
night grandstand adult general admission is $15.00. On Saturday night
the price is $20.00. On both nights juniors are $10.00 with children $5.00.

Leading the charge into this weekend’s racing action is
Silver Dollar
Speedway champion Keith Bloom Jr. This star in the making won eight
times in 2008. It’s hard to imagine he won all of those races and the
championship in his rookie season. Orland’s semi-pro basketball player
Taylor Simas will also be on hand. Simas recorded four wins throughout
the year and finished second in points. Cody and Mason Myer should earn
the perseverance award, if one existed. Each of them competed in 28
races this year. For a two-car team, that is an amazing stat. Yet, they
are still winless on the year and will be ready to finally get
themselves in victory lane this weekend. The break out star this season
had to be Chico’s Jimmy Pettit. Affectionately called, “The Love Shack,”
Pettit has quickly turned into a force at the racetrack. Pettit won four
times this year. Orland’s Reyna Krueger is slated to return to the
driver’s seat after a tough flip in September.

Loomis driver Kyle Hirst is entered to run the potent Orth family #24
sprinter. Hirst is fresh off his top 10 finish in the Fall Nationals the
previous weekend. It’s always fun to see Marc Zieske drive a sprint car.
He will be on hand as one of the favorites. The former winged star has
spent most of the season in the non-wing division. Biggs driver Kody
Smith is also scheduled to race. Smith is one of the younger talents in
the division. Auburn’s Wayne Trimble is scheduled to make his first
start at Silver Dollar Speedway this weekend. Trimble has been a
dominant force at Placerville Speedway in the Pro Stock class and now is
ready to move into a wingless sprint to challenge the rest of the field.
Chico’s David Larabee is also ready to attend this weekend’s racing
action. Larabee, like his friend Pettit, has logged many laps around
Silver Dollar Speedway in other divisions. Charlie Cagle, Kenny Webber
and Charlie Marrs are other driver expected to race.

The race this weekend will put an end to the racing season at
Silver
Dollar Speedway. The 2009 racing schedule will be available sometime in
late December or early January. As always, please visit
