On early Saturday it looked like all forecasts of bad weather was untrue as the sun shone brightly. The pits were full of cars eager to race for Ray’s Food Place Night and it was great weather until time for the pit meeting around 4:00 PM when it started to rain. The rain halted for sometime and cars went on the track to pack the surface in and get ready for qualifying.
But the rain came back and washed away hopes of the evening to get under as around 5:53 PM the word was given and the race cancelled. Also to note is that Friday’s Karts were rained out as well. Hopes for Brandi Bounds of Cottage Grove to win her third straight race (fifth overall) will have to wait till next weekend as well as Gene Ashley of Jasper for his second, Don Muth Sr. of Cottage Grove his third, and Coburg’s Jesse Williamson his fourth victory of the season.
