Bordon Wins Barnburner at Deming Speedway

4/26/19

Everson, WA - A late race shootout in the Speedmart 600 Open division saw Devon Borden win a shootout to capture his first Deming Speedway win on Les Schwab / Napa of Bellingham night at Deming Speedway. Chance Crum, Tyson Cross, Jordi Meese and Levi Hillier joined him as division winners.

Borden led all 25 laps in his quest for his first win, but the final 10 proved to be extra tough. Jared Peterson had rolled into second and found his fastest line around the track, running high through turns one and two and shooting off the cushion to the bottom of three and four. With no slower traffic ahead, Peterson was right on Borden for the final few laps, threatening him on each end of the speedway, but the Raymond, WA hot shoe was up to the task, turning him away each time in capturing the win. Peterson would settle for runner up with Jesse Schlotfeldt taking third.

The Wicked Energy Gum Focus Midgets made appearance number one on the season on Friday night. Chance Crum turned away a spirited challenge up front from defending track champ Shane Smith to pick up the victory, his third of the year in three different classes at Deming Speedway and fourth overall. Hannah Lindquist passed Smith late to take second place.

Caution flags shortened the main event for Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 division, despite a fantastic battle at the front of the field. Tyson Cross came out on top of that battle, leading every lap of the main, with Jared Gundersen hot on his heels in taking the runner up spot. Steven Hendrickson came in third.

The Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted Main also ended early due to time restraints. Jordi Meese capitalized on his pole position start to capture the win, his first at Deming Speedway. Malchi Gemmer made multiple runs at Meese but was turned away each time and had to settle for second. Third went Levi Klatt who made a late race charge on the high side.

Levi Hillier ended Levi Kuntz’ win streak by going wire to wire for the win in the Clean Crawls Junior Sprints. Hillier opened up a big advantage and was never seriously challenged. Kuntz was second with Keira Zylstra subbing in the Peyton Drake car and earning third.
