Deming, WA- Opening night at Deming Speedway was a huge success on many fronts. From a huge car count to a huge crowd, everyone from the fans to the drivers to the promoters were happy with the turnout on Diehl Ford night.
The night belonged to Austin Wheatley in the Frontier Cheverolet / Speedmart 600’s. Wheatley won his first main even tin the 600 class leading all 20 laps of the main. His only challenge of the night came on a mid race restart, where Kyle Johnson showed him a tire entering one. The youngster Wheatley maintained his composure, powering the car hard off the top groovem never to be challenged again,
Derek Holmwood took home the win in the Lifestyles RV 1200’s. Clennon Holloway led the first 9 laps, till a Steven Hendrickson flip stopped the field. On the restart, Holloway suffered motor woes and served the lead to Holmwood who went unchallenged till seeing the final flags first on lap 20.
Spud Allen was the man to beat all night in the Advanced Sprint Car and Toys for Trucks 250’s. After setting fast time, Allen deliberately ran down race leader Eric Turner and powered by him at the halfway point of the race. Allen won by a full straightaway 10 laps later, in a car that was still being assembled up until race day,
Tyler Anderson led all 20 laps to win the PMP Chassis 600 restricted main, fending off strong challenges along the way from Reece Goetz and Chad Sinner, who finished 2nd.
Austin Sheridan won the carnage filled Kasey Kahne Jr Sprint main.
