Row One The Place To Be At Deming Speedway
5/2/08
Deming, WA – Wire to wire, row one winners were the way of the world at Deming Speedway on Haggen Food and Pharmacy night. The Lifestyles RV 1200 main saw crowd favorite Jason Bloodgood work his car like a master around the outside of the racey 1/6 mile clay oval. Bloodgood went unchallenged over the 25 lap feature, collecting his first main win of the year. Second was George Shufelt, third was Clennon Holloway.
Similar to Bloodgood in the 1200’s, Logan Forler walked away with an easy win in the Frontier Chevrolet / Speedmart 600’s. Forler’s first victory of 2008 was easy, crossing the final flag a full second and a half before his nearest challenger, Phil Schemenauer. Third place was Jake Benson.
Garrett Archer didn’t get an easy win in the PMP Chassis 600 restricted class. After shooting out to an early five car length advantage, Archer was methodically reeled in by Rece Goetz. Goetz got close enough to show Archer a bumper in heavy lapped traffic, but the young Archer was unphased, and pulled away to secure the victory. Second was the aforementioned Goetz, third was last weeks winner Chad Sinner.
Brandon Turner looked like he had a cakewalk lined up in the Advanced Sprint Car and Toys for Trucks 250’s, till disaster struck. During a lap 15 caution, Turner suffered an undisclosed front suspension failure and was forced to retire from the race. Turner’s departure handed the lead to Jake Benson, who weaved through lapped traffic like an underwater basket weaver on human growth hormone to pick up the second spot before the terminal yellow flew for Turner. Benson easily covered the last 10 laps for the win. Eric Turner was second followed by Spud Allen.
Same old story in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprint Main, as Austin Sheridan won his third main in a row. Sheridan told the crowd in victory lane that his goal was five wins in a row before attempting to race in the 600 restricted class. Skyler Pawlowicz was second, Hannah Lindquist was third.
Next week is Conoco Phillips night at Deming Speedway; all five classes will be in action. Opening Ceremonies are scheduled for 7pm. For more information, log on to http://www.demingspeedway.com
