Just got off the phone with Rita.
Mike has been released from the Anchorage hospital and is at home recuperating. He needs to gather his strength and get back to full speed. But the prognosis is good for a full recovery.
Thanks to everyone for their concern about his well being. Mike and Rita thank you for the kind wishes and prayers for his recovery.

An email that I received over the weekend.......and like Kelly I talked to Mike. He sounds good.
Just a note to you all to let you know what all has been going on with Mike. As you know this all started about the 20th of January with the flu and ended in Anchorage on February 22nd when we flew home. Mike was diagnosed with Pneumonia strepaccouse type b which is a very serious pneumonia and strep. The Strep then traveled down his right leg and grew, real big and red. So surgery was done on that to clean out the infection. Three tubes total were inserted into his lungs to drain the mess there. He is still on about 3-4 weeks more of antibiotics. So now we are home and he is on the road to recovery. We were fortunate to have Mikes sister and brother in law, Pat and Dennis who came from Soldotna a couple of times, for encouragement, company and food! Bob showed up also which always adds a highlight to things. Too bad they said he could driveā¦it would have made it easier to keep him in line for a bit! He is well aware that he now has a while to recover, but should be back to his smiling self soon. Mike was an excellent patient. All the nurses and students fought over who got Mike. When they walked by his room, they would wave at him. Ahhh what a life ! We are both glad to be home and we both say thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
