Yakima Speedway heads into second-half of 2012 season with
championship points on the line
YAKIMA, Wash. (July 26, 2012)-After taking two weeks off to allow race
fans and competitors a summer break and the chance to catch great
racing action in other parts of the Northwest, Yakima Speedway roars
back to life this Saturday night with five division's of action on the
famed half-mile.

Leading the way will be the H&H Furniture Pure Stock division where
the race for the 2012 championship has come down to a two-driver
showdown between leader Chris Marang and Rob Allen who sits just 29
markers behind Marang. While mathematically in the mix this year's
hard-charging Rookie of the Year contender, Tim Hitchcock may be
bringing his force to challenge Allen's second-place position as the
Moxee native sits third over all and only 38 points behind Allen.

Kyle Wade and Peppie Rojas round out the top-5 drivers in the chase
for the Pure Stock championship.

In the Burger Ranch Sportsman division Buck Noel Jr. looks to continue
his winning ways over a strong group of contenders that include Lucas
Valdez, Kyler Conduff, Morgan Morrison and Terry Cook.

Noel leads last season's Rookie of the Year winner, Valdez, by 53
heading into the weekend. The race for second through fifth place in
the standings is very tight as only 33 points separate Valdez back to
fifth-place Cook.

For Jeff Ball the only thing standing between himself and a 2012
championship in the CWI Security/EZ Credit Auto Sales Hornet is a
potential mechanical gremlin or vacation outing that would cause the
No. 49 to gain points in the class. Ball has been the dominant car all
season long and if not standing in victory circle as the race winner,
he had still ended up on the track's front stretch as a top-3
finisher.

Micheal Beck and Rodger Eaton run second and third respectively in the
Hornet division points standings with only 13 points separating the
pair. Aguirre has lost the last two main events after starting the
year off with five straight victories. The momentary pause has allowed
Nunn as well as Dennis Clouse (-39) to remain in the hunt.

Kellie Zacharias and Joe Stevens round out the top-5 in the
Bump-to-Pass points standings.

For Cody Denton the chance to claim the first-ever championship in the
Speedway Mini-Stock division continues this weekend as he holds a
strong 58-point lead on second-place Joshua Henne. While no title is
ever locked up until championship night, Denton is among the most
likely of Speedway competitors to claim a title when the dust settles
on 2012.

George Jankowics, Casey Chambers and Adam Bryan round out the top-5 in
the Mini-Stock points standings.

Josh Aguirre has had the upper hand this season in most Sea Galley
Bump-to-Pass races with many a victory coming his way since the year
kicked off back in April. With that said Todd Nunn has been up to the
challenge of staying with Aguirre for the 2012 championship and the
drivers find themselves with a mere six points between them heading
into the weekend.

Late Model Sportsman cars were originally scheduled to compete this
weekend but have been tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 25.

As a reminder, discount ticket night at Yakima Speedway is coming up
on Aug. 11 with special pricing and booklets being offered at the
Speedway main office or at various locations across the Yakima Valley.
Fans are encouraged to contact the track for more details regarding
this promotion.

For fast and furious racing action fans will want to be sure to be at
Yakima Speedway Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. as admission gates will
be open. Qualifying set for 5 followed by racing at 6. To learn more
