The prize money continues to increase for the third annual Fred Rannard, Sr. Open Wheel Classic at Agassiz Speedway this coming Friday and Saturday, September 6th and 7th.
An extra $1,100 has been added to the purse thanks to Brian's Auto Glass ($500 in addition to their original donation of $500), Bulldog Transport ($500) and Tron Fabrication ($100 in addition to their original donation of $100).
This means that the Midgets will now be racing for a $1,500 top prize with second through fifth positions paying $800-700-600-400 with sixth place and beyond all receiving $300. The prize money is based on a two day total points format. There will also be $50 for fast time each night thanks to Tron Fabrication.
The West Coast Vintage Racers (sprint cars, modifieds and roadsters from the 1960's,70's,80's and 90's) top three finishers in the main event each night will receive $200-100-50 respectively. Tron Fabrication will also pay $50 per night for the fastest qualifier.
The American Canadian Dwarf Cars, Jalopies and Legends will also be on the schedule both nights.
There will also be $50 in bonus money in each class for the best appearing car, long tow and hard luck awards. Other contingency awards will be provided by our friends at Speedmart, Joe's Racing Products and Harding Motorsports Supply.
It will be an historic weekend at the 1/4 mile paved oval, located 90 minutes east of Vancouver, as it will be the first time the track has ever hosted a race for open wheel cars only. It will also be the first event ever held on a Friday in Agassiz's 49 year history and the first time in over 10 years that they've had a two day show.
Exclusive coverage of both nights of racing can be heard live on the Racinboys Broadcasting Network thanks to the Wicked Energy Gum Focus Midget Series and the Shaun in the Dirt Racing podcast.
Agassiz Speedway will be open for practice on Thursday, September 5. Pits open at 3:00 with practice from 4:00-7:00 followed by a complimentary barbecue. Friday and Saturday pits open at 1:00, spectator gates at 4:30, qualifying at 5:00, meet and greet autograph session at 6:00 and racing at 6:30. There will also be plenty of prize giveaways for the fans.
